We are very grateful you brought your expertise and wide knowledge and shared it with our students at Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares: The School for Actors in Mumbai. We invite you to return again soon.” "Students everywhere should experience your excellent Workshop and see your play! We are so glad you came to share your knowledge on the Group Theatre. Because of the students’ enthusiasm to your work, I created a new course on American acting. Your trip helped open a new window to American theatre and acting in Turkey.” "The students you taught here learned so much from you. It was a great honor having your play in our Festival." “It is so elevating to hear you talk with your deep roots in the theatre. What you express represents the long streams of the theatre.” “Your “Art of Transformation” workshop was just what the students needed.” “We were so glad and honored you joined us to teach at the International Festival of Making Theatre. The students benefited immensely from everything you taught them.” "It was wonderful that you taught what the students needed to hear. Thank you! Everything you taught meant so much for everyone." “We were privileged to have you teach your Workshops at the 13th Annual Last Frontier Theatre Conference. Because of your expertise in working with my students, I saw them do work I didn’t think they were capable of. You are an amazingly, giving artist." “I want to thank you for your Workshop on the “Art of Transformation.” It was both stimulating and reinforcing in terms of my understanding of the art of acting and being.
“THE ART OF TRANSFORMATION”A Master Acting Workshop for the Student/Actor’s Exploration of their Instrument The “Art of Transformation” Workshop is like no other in the world. Using the original chart Constantin Stanislavsky gave Stella Adler in Paris in 1934, The “Art of Transformation” Workshop enriches and expands the actor’s imagination, allowing the actor to explore their entire instrument. The emphasis is on freeing the student/actor’s imagination, coupled with the desire to communicate the truth of the playwright. Through this process the student/actor learns how to develop their natural skills of creating “the moment before,” a greater use of their imagination, allowing their authentic impulses to reveal the human being’s essence they are portraying. Through the use of physical exercises, we explore together, working towards simplicity, relaxation, truth – revealing the actor’s authentic voice. Each actor is also encouraged to bring at least one prepared monologue. The Workshop is drawn from Mr. Rand’s many years of performing and teaching, and his 5 1/2 years of study with Stella Adler, with Harold Clurman, Bobby Lewis, Joseph Chaikin, and Jerzy Grotowski. An Adjunct Professor of Acting & Directing at Pace University in New York City, Mr. Rand has taught 20 years around the world, at over 75 universities, colleges, festivals, conferences, theaters, and acting schools including Academy of Dramatic Art, Zagreb; Belarusian State University, Minsk, Belarus; Anadolu University, Eskesehir; Espacio Blanco Leis Acting Studio, Buenos Aires; New York University, Northern Illinois University, Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and many more schools across America, and around the world.
